By Our Correspondent: The Central Research Institute for Machine Building Technologies (JSC RPA CNIITMASH), an arm of Atomenergomash, machine building division of Russia’s State-run Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, has now teamed up with the India’s State-owned Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC) for development and implementation of end-to-end technologies for manufacturing of some heavy and power engineering products, including blank parts, shells, castings and forgings at the HEC's machine-building plant. The two sides have already signed an agreement to this effect which will be formally put into practice by the end of 2017, top company officials said. Earlier, in February 2016, under the framework agreement, Indian and Russian sides had signed a contract for establishment of the Center for General Engineering and Technical Training in India. Subsequently, in February 2017, implementation of the first stage of the contract was successfully completed. The latest contract is perceived to be the next step towards implementing the framework agreement signed by the two sides originally in 2015. The latest move has opened up new vistas and thrown up new opportunities in the field of development of other engineering technologies, joint implementation of some projects, and modernization of HEC's machine building capacities. Interestingly, Russia at present is developing required training materials, while India is creating the appropriate infrastructure. As per the plans, training will start in late 2017 or early 2018. The proposed center will provide nine different training courses with the duration from 1 to 4 months. At the first stage around 200 Indian engineers will get opportunities to improve their skills. Rosatom officials said that the joint efforts to implement the signed agreements would create serious prerequisites for development of new areas of cooperation, some of which are going to be introduced between 2018 and 2020. Significantly, in the new scheme of things, JSC RPA CNIITMASH is also planning to take part in the modernization programme of the HEC's machine-building complex. Founded in 1929, JSC RPA CNIITMASH has the status of the State Research Center of Russia, which develops basic materials, technologies, and products for heavy and power engineering, including essential elements of equipment for power generation units with VVER-1000 reactors, nuclear power plants of new generation NPP-2006, hydraulic and gas turbines, power generation units for thermal electric power stations, powerful presses, and metallurgical units.
